Two rough-in decisions carry more cost risk than any finish choice.
The cash wrap location is the first. It needs power for point-of-sale terminals, usually two data connections, sometimes a phone line, and frequently a security camera drop. Commercial-grade luxury vinyl plank at 6 mm or thicker with a commercial wear layer, and polished concrete, are the most durable and cost-effective options for Vancouver retail. Polished concrete suits ground-floor slab spaces and needs no underlayment at all. Luxury vinyl plank suits above-grade spaces and second-generation retail where removing the existing floor is step one. Business Improvement Areas are worth a final note.
